A coat you no longer need could be just what a local child needs this winter.
As families in West Chester and Liberty Township get ready for colder weather, Deluxe Cleaners and Alterations is partnering with Reach Out Lakota to help bring warmth to children in our community. We’re collecting winter coats in good condition, cleaning the donated coats, and delivering them to Reach Out Lakota for distribution to local children who need them.
We’re also collecting warm leisure pants in all sizes to help meet the seasonal need for warmer clothing.
If your family has outgrown a winter coat—or you have warm clothing that is no longer being worn—this is a simple way to put it back to work for a neighbor.
All coat sizes are welcome, with a special need for ages eight and up
Children can grow out of a coat long before the coat wears out. That jacket tucked in the back of your closet may still have plenty of warmth to give.
All sizes of winter coats are welcome. There is a particular need for coats that fit children ages eight and older, including older children and teens. Please consider those larger sizes as you look through your closets.
The age is a guide, rather than a request for only clothing labeled size 8: children need different sizes, and larger coats are an important part of this collection.
Please donate winter coats in good condition that are suitable for cold weather. Before bringing one in, check that the zipper or other closures work, the pockets are intact, and the coat is free of significant tears. Think about whether it is something you would feel good giving another family’s child to wear.
You provide the coat. Our team will take care of cleaning it before delivering it to Reach Out Lakota.
Warm leisure pants are needed, too
Winter comfort goes beyond a coat. Reach Out Lakota is also seeking leisure pants in all sizes, with an emphasis on warmer clothing for the season.
Sweatpants, fleece pants, and warm joggers are useful options to look for as you sort through clothing. Please choose items in good condition, with usable waistbands and no significant holes or damage. Lightweight summer clothing is not the focus of this drive.

Local care, shared by local people
Reach Out Lakota provides food and clothing assistance to families in the West Chester and Liberty Township community. This partnership brings together the generosity of our customers, the garment-care experience of our team, and Reach Out Lakota’s community distribution efforts.
For LeeAnn Gentry and the team at Deluxe Cleaners, caring for clothing is part of caring for people. As a locally owned, woman-owned business, we’re grateful for the opportunity to help our neighbors in a practical way.
A donation does not have to be large to matter. One well-kept coat or a pair of warm pants can become something another family is glad to have when temperatures drop.
Take a look in your closet this week
Check the coats your children have outgrown. Look through the warm pants that are no longer being worn. Then bring suitable items to Deluxe Cleaners at Union Centre, or contact our team about donation pickup if you’re an existing laundry pickup and delivery client.
